Would also be interested in choir director position. I am a sister in Christ and a member of a Lutheran church. Have been playing the organ for for 35 years. Have studied piano for 18 years and have been taken voice lessons. I did start a 3 octave hand bell choir at my home church several years ago which was a great experience. I directed and expanded that choir until I was offered a position and felt I was called by God to St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hanover that I had substituted at for several months when I was not committed on a Sunday morning with my hand bell choir and commitment to St David’s. I have had experience starting a Contemporary Worship service and participated with that service for about 1 year. There just were not enough musicians that we could really get the music and good music that I had anticipated for this service. A few other people from the congregation! had taken over the service with taped music which was against what I felt, however, after many prayers and thinking, I had decided to remove myself from that group. I love contemporary services and the music provided when done well. I like working with choirs. I currently have a Contemporary choir open to teenagers to any age. This choir has limited rehearsals and sings about once every 6 weeks. I have worked with children’s choirs and am currently working with choir chimes with children that play in church for special services and they just love to play. I also have a passion for hand bells and currently have a 2 octave hand bell choir rehearsing now. The church does have 3 octave hand bells; however, I can’t get enough volunteers to get the 3rd octave out at this time to play the 3rd octave. I try to improvise when possible to bring the 3rd octave in with the 2nd octave even with not enough ringers; I just add a bell or two to some of my more advanced ringers! that I know can handle the challenge. The church where I am currently the organist/choir director is in a financial bind and is very close to closing their doors. My heart is saddened by this situation. I feel that God has given me this talent to serve Him and I want to keep serving Him with my talent. I like working with people of all ages. No experience required for any member of a choir that I am a director of other than commitment. that is all I ask of my volunteers. I also strive in teaching the choir the music I pick each week that co-insides with the lesson and/or theme of the Sunday. I take great pride in my playing and singing and am my worst critic. I do have a full time position during the week and the only time that I would not be available would be for funerals during the week.
